Probation Violations
Probation violations occur when a person has violated one or more terms of probation. Often, a new arrest will trigger a revocation proceeding, but more subtle violations such as failing to maintain a job, failing to report to the probation officer, or testing positive for alcohol or drugs can also result in a proceeding to revoke a person’s probation. Probation violations are serious matters because the result often involves execution of a previously suspended sentence and a resulting incarceration in jail or prison. Hiring an experienced attorney is crucial. An attorney can often assist in advocating a continuance of probation or lessening the impact of any sentence to be imposed by the Court.
